Tracking domains
Connect your own domain for tracking links: DNS records, verification, automatic HTTPS, a default domain and spare domains for rotation.
Tracking links should run on a domain you own. It keeps your reputation separate from other users, looks trustworthy in ad previews, and lets you switch domains without rebuilding campaigns.
Adding a domain
- Choose a subdomain of a domain you own, such as
go.example.com. - Open Domains and add it.
- At your DNS provider, create the records the tracker shows: a CNAME for the subdomain and a TXT record that proves ownership.
- Return to the tracker and verify. DNS changes can take from minutes to a few hours.
HTTPS
Once the domain is verified, the certificate is issued and renewed automatically. Keep the DNS records in place and the domain renewed at the registrar, and HTTPS keeps working.
Using the domain
- Choose it as the tracking domain on a campaign, or set it as the workspace default for new campaigns.
- Group several domains into a pool to spread links across them.
- Keep a verified spare domain, so a flagged domain can be replaced in minutes.
Domain status
The domain list shows whether each domain is pending, verified or failing. A failing domain usually means a DNS record was changed or removed.
Good practice
- One purpose per domain: do not mix tracking links with your company website.
- Neutral names that do not spell out the offer.
- Auto-renew at the registrar for every domain with live traffic.
